Established in 1997, the Ventaja Group started with Advantage Products Corp., a distributor of prepaid phone cards for the leading telcos. When the industry shifted to electronic delivery of prepaid products, the Ventaja Group learned how to develop and maintain software platforms. These new platforms made it possible for Ventaja to start selling telecom products to Filipinos living overseas (starting 2004). Up to this day, the telecom business contributes significantly to the Group’s bottom line.
In 2007, the company expanded its services to collecting SSS contributions and loan payments from OFWs—another first. In 2009 and 2011, Ventaja started accepting payments for Pag-IBIG and Philhealth, respectively. Today, Ventaja is the Philippine government’s largest collection partner overseas. Ventaja’s partner agents include top Philippine banks and remittance companies in the Middle East and Asia.
In 2013, the Ventaja Group launched PayPilipinas, a portal where OFWs can pay government loans and contributions with a credit card. In 2014, the Group launched its bills payment platform after tying up with a bill aggregator in the Philippines.
In 2015, Ventaja partnered with PayRemit and started collecting for various e-commerce sites such as Goldilock’s. In 2017, Cebu Pacific Air came on board as a PayRemit merchant. In early 2018, PayRemit Shop was launched so OFWs can order appliances, toys and gadgets for their families in the Philippines.
